An unexpected update dropped on Monday. Sun Pictures said that it will be teaming up with Superstar Rajinikanth for an action thriller to be directed by Kollywood's reigning director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Anirudh Ravichander and Anbariv will take care of its music and stunts, respectively.
This one is Rajinikanth's 171st film. Lokesh is currently completing the post-production of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo'. He will work on Rajini's film from the end of this year.
Rajini's first film with the director will be mounted on a rich scale by producer Kalanithi Maran. The director has previously worked with Rajini's contemporary, Kamal Haasan, on 'Vikram'. That film, released in 2022, was a huge hit.
Thalaivar171 is expected to be released by the end of 2024. Lokesh is fast when it comes to completing movies. He doesn't take too long to wrap up production work. The film, it is speculated, will belong to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, of which 'Leo' is also speculated to be a part.
As for Lokesh's 'Leo', it will hit the screens on October 20. The film co-stars Trisha Krishnan in a key role. Rajini is doing a film with 'Jai Bhim' director TJ Gnanavel.
