'Chandramukhi 2' was supposed to hit the screens in Telugu and Tamil on September 15. It was postponed a week before its release.
Why did Lyca Productions postpone its release all of a sudden earlier this month? Director P Vasu has revealed that about 480 shots of footage related to the film were untraceable during the post-production.
"Let's suppose a dog has to jump and pounce on somebody in a scene. The DI work on this scene is divided into hundreds of multiple shots. And distributed to different individuals. If a whole set of those shots go missing, the entire scene takes a beating in the post-production. When I learned that 480 shots went missing, I was shocked. We postponed the film to buy some time. We eventually found the missing shots and completed the DI work," P Vasu said.
The reason, if true, is quite shocking. Missing files can spell losses to the tune of several crores in the case of big-budget movies. Already, unauthorized leaks and poor quality VFX works have become a huge headache for pan-Indian movies.
'Chandramukhi 2' will hit the screens on September 28. It will lock horns with Ram Pothineni's 'Skanda'. The film stars Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut.
