'Salaar' was supposed to hit the screens on September 28 before it was postponed indefinitely. As per an email sent to exhibitors by Bollywood distributor Amit Thadani on Monday, the Prabhas-starring behemoth will hit the screens on December 22.
Exhibitors belonging to the Bollywood market have been informed about the new date under consideration by 'KGF' director Prashanth Neel and producer Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films. The producer-director duo seem to be confident that post-production works will be finished by the end of October. In November and December, Prabhas and team will dedicate themselves to extensive promotions.
Locking horns with 'Dunki'?
'Dunki', starring Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, is slated to hit the screens on December 22. Will 'Salaar' directly confront SRK's movie? As things stand, that seems inevitable. Neutral observers are saying that 'Dunki' might face a drubbing in mass centres in North India if 'Salaar' registers a positive 'word of mouth'.
Tollywood up for postponements?
Telugu films like 'Saindhav' (starring Venkatesh), 'Hi Nanna' (starring Nani) and 'Extra - Ordinary Man' (starring Nithiin) will have to be postponed in the face of 'Salaar'.
The new release date of 'Salaar' will be made official on Friday (September 29).
