Akshay Kumar's 'Sky Force' is about India's 'deadliest air strike'

A film titled 'Sky Force', telling the story of "India's first and deadliest air strike", was announced today with Akshay Kumar as the hero. Sharing the announcement teaser on Twitter, the Bollywood superstar wrote, "No better day than today to announce the incredible story of #SkyForce: Our untold story of India's first and deadliest airstrike." He was referring to the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was India's Prime Minister at that time.

"Give it love, please. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat," the actor further wrote. Presented by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan, the film will hit the cinemas exactly a year from now: October 2, 2024.

From August 1965 to September that year, India and Pakistan indulged in an armed conflict. Shastri was the PM. "The war saw the aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) engaging in combat for the first time since independence," says a Wikipedia entry about the war.

Meanwhile, Akshay awaits the release of 'Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue' on October 6. The film is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai.
