'Ghost' is touted to be a pan-India release this Dasara. Starring Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar in the lead, the film's trailer was released today. The film will be released in theatres on October 19.
The trailer takes two long minutes to establish nothing in particular. We see shots inspired by films like 'KGF' and the more recent 'Dasara' (albeit only once). Prashanth Neel's 'KGF' has changed the way directors conceive and stage action scenes. Upendra's disastrous 'Kabzaa' was the poor man's 'KGF'. Merely copying the style of Neel's films can be counter-productive. 'Ghost' might well prove this truth, if it needed to be proved at all.
'Ghost' is going to clash with Balakrishna's 'Bhagavanth Kesari', Ravi Teja's 'Tiger Nageswara Rao' and Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' at the Telugu box office. Kannada films, especially mass ones, have had hard luck in Telugu.
Co-starring Anupam Kher, Jayaram, Prashanth Narayanan, Archana Jois, Satyaprakash and Dattanna, the film has BGM by Arjun Janya. Mahendra Simha is its cinematographer.
In recent weeks, two acclaimed Kannada films flopped badly at the Telugu box office: 'Boys Hostel' and 'Sapta Saagaralu Dhaati'.
