That's why Nani didn't do '800'

'800', Muthiah Muralidaran's biopic, was first supposed to be done by Vijay Sethupathy. The Tamil actor was forced to walk out of the project by some Tamil groups in Tamil Nadu considering the LTTE issue and Muralidaran's past comments about the elimination of the LTTE in the late 2000s.

Before this happened, director MS Sripathy, who personally knows Natural Star Nani, wanted to pitch the story to the Telugu actor. Producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad today revealed that Nani was not interested in the biopic because he had done another cricket-based family drama (read 'Jersey') only one year back.

"Nani told me he would listen to the script of '800' but not with the intention of doing it. I asked Sripathy not to have any expectations from Nani," Krishna Prasad said in an interview today.

'800' is slated to hit the screens on October 6. "Our target is the multiplex audience in the Telugu States to begin with. If the movie gains traction, more shows and screens will be added. Across India, '800' will be released on about 900 screens in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi," the Krishna Prasad said today.
