'Nata Ratnalu' is the title of a comedy entertainer starring Nellore Sudarshan (rechristened as Sudarshan Reddy) in the role of an aspiring filmmaker who wants to make a pan-Indian movie. 'Rangasthalam' Mahesh plays a wannabe cinematographer who is waiting for that one opportunity to outdo Chota K Naidu. Also starring Inaya Sultana and Thagubothu Ramesh, the film's trailer launch event was held in Hyderabad on Saturday. Narra Shiva Nagu has directed the movie.
Speaking on the occasion, guest and producer Damodar Prasad implied that he expects 'Nata Ratnalu' to showcase the hardships experienced by aspiring artists and technicians as against the perception of glamour. Telugu Film Producers Council Secretary Prasanna Kumar said that cinema is like medicine. "The more you take it, the better it gets. Director Shiva Nagu has honed himself into an able filmmaker," he added.
Shiva Nagu said that cinema is everything to him. He said that 'Nata Ratnalu' is a story of what he has done in real life to realize his dream. "This movie is coming to you very soon. I want this movie to be a success and bless us," he added.
Producer Chanti Yalamati said that director Surya Kiran of 'Sathyam' fame will be seen as a cop in the film. "This story is like a movie within a movie. Many youngsters want to enter the industry and achieve something. They aim to become a hero, a director, and even a producer. Our film is about such aspirants," he added.
Arjun Tej, Archana, Suman Shetty, Suriyakiran, AS Ravikumar Chaudhary (who said that the final 20 minutes will be a stand-out feature of the film) and Tiger Seshadri are part of the cast.
