'105 Minutes' is unpredictable every single minute: Director Raju Dussa

'105 Minutes' stars Hansika Motwani in the lead. The single-shot movie with just one character will be released in theatres on January 26.

Director Raju Dussa, who hails from Warangal, has previously worked as a writer in the Hindi film industry. Talking about '105 Minutes' in his latest interview, he says that he stumbled upon its core plot while writing a dialogue version for a movie he worked on years ago. "I happened to write versions for different characters with different locations and different timelines. I then got the idea of taking a long shot of the same character at a particular time. That too, in real time. That's how '105 Minutes' took shape," he says.

"If you watch something in real-time and see it live, it would feel like it is happening right in front of your eyes. That's at the core of '105 Minutes' and its novelty. Not a single frame in the movie is unnecessary. We completed it in exactly 105 minutes," he adds.

Arriving at the single-shot structure was not automatic. "When I conceived the first draft, I did not think of a single shot. But after listening to our cinematographer (Kishore Boyidapu), he gave the idea that the film could be done in a single shot. After the scripting was completed, we put together a storyboard and narrated the same to Hansika, who was excited," the director reveals.

"There are no songs, no forced comedy, no dialogues in this movie. But the screenplay is gripping from start to end. And the narration is so unpredictable that the viewer can't figure out what's next. Besides Hansika, there is a shadow. There is an invisible character," the director says.
