The question on everyone's mind is whether Vallabhaneni Vamsi, the Krishna District Gannavaram MLA who defected from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to the YSR Congress Party (YCP), will receive a ticket from YCP in the upcoming elections. This, along with the other three TDP defectors to YCP, has been a hot topic of discussion for some time now.
Kodali Nani, a former minister and a close friend of Vamsi, made some interesting comments while speaking to the media. He stated that while Chandrababu Naidu may have taken four MLAs from YCP, what about the four TDP MLAs who joined YCP? Nani clarified that YCP did not actively seek out these politicians to join their party, and reminded everyone that they already had a solid base of 151 MLAs.
Regarding Vamsi and the other defectors, Nani explained that they were sitting in the House as special members with the permission of the Speaker. He also noted that while Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, would only give tickets to those with public support in the next election, he did not mention whether Vamsi or any of the other defectors had such support.
Nani pointed out that Jagan Mohan Reddy would likely not give ministerial positions or party tickets to those who defected without public support. If Vamsi does not have the support of the people, it is possible that he will not be given a ticket, even though he has defected to YCP.
There are two leaders in YCP who have been with the party since its inception, Yarlagadda Venkata Rao Dutta Ramachandra Rao, and they are both fighting against Vamsi even as TDP is determined to defeat Vamsi in the upcoming elections.
