Chandra Babu Naidu, president of TDP held a meeting with Muslim clerics and leaders and held discussions with them for many hours. Chandra Babu Naidu met Muslim clerics and leaders at his party office in Andhra Pradesh. They had intense discussions on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the bill which PM Modi's BJP is planning to introduce in the upcoming monsoon session of the Parliament.
Muslim clerics during their interaction with Chandra Babu told him that UCC is not only detrimental to the Muslims and other minority religions but also to the majority of Hindus. They told him not to support the bill in the parliament as it stalls religious freedom. Chandra Babu Naidu promised them that his party will act in the interest of the Muslims and will not take any decision that will hurt them in the future.
He also promised them that his party TDP will analyze all the inputs they have collected from the Muslim community and the clerics and place them in the parliament when the bill is introduced in the parliament. He said he understood and came to know about the feelings and opinions of the Muslims regarding UCC and added that TDP will respect their sentiments.
