Ever since Nara Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in connection with the Skill Development scam, a pattern has been observed. Several social media handles supporting BJP have been sharing old video clips in which the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister can be heard castigating Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In one of the videos that is going viral on the Internet all over again, the TDP supremo can be heard resorting to scaremongering by claiming that Muslims will be disenfranchised by the NDA government.
"If Modi wins (in 2019), Muslims might lose voting rights," Naidu says addressing a public rally. He also promises in the speech that he will make a Muslim the Deputy Chief Minister of AP.
In an attempt to woo minority votes, Naidu then resorts to unabashed appeasement by promising that Imams will be paid a salary of Rs 10,000 per month. The Islamic banking model is another of Naidu's favourite agenda.
Finally, Naidu peddles the lie that Christians will be under attack if Modi wins again. "I am the only leader who can take on Modi," the TDP leader is heard declaring.
Since Naidu tried to demonize Modi in campaign speeches, there is little wonder that BJP sympathizers are digging out his old anti-Modi speeches at a time when he has been jailed.
