The YSR Congress Party’s Women Wing held massive protests against Telugu Desam Party and its chief Chandrababu Naidu for stalling disbursements worth Rs 14,000 crore under 6 welfare schemes, including YSR Cheyutha, Aasra, Kalyanamasthu / Shadi Tohfa. Remember, it was after Naidu and his aides filed a complaint with the Election Commission that the disbursement was stalled and lakhs of beneficiaries adversely affected.
The outrage among women also stems from the recent incidents of attack, harassment, and violence that were reported against YSRCP women leaders including Home Minister Tanethi Vanitha and Macherla MLA’s wife P Ramadevi.
Protests were conducted at 5 assembly constituencies across the state, including Tuni in Kakinada, Tanuku in Narsapuram, Sathyaveedu in Tirupati, Nellore City, and Vijayawada West and saw active participation of women beneficiaries in huge numbers. Expressing their anger, women burnt Naidu’s effigies, raised placards, and sloganeered against Chandrababu Naidu and TDP, labeling them anti-poor and anti-women.
