Sunny Deol: Blockbuster in theatres, utter flop in Parliament

The focus on Sunny Deol has only increased in recent days. After all, his Hindi film 'Gadar 2' has become a monster blockbuster. It has so far amassed more than Rs 300 Cr at the box office.

Deol is a BJP MP from Punjab's Gurdaspur. While he is going great guns on the film front, he is a complete disaster as a parliamentarian. A report by ToI says that Deol did not attend the recently-concluded monsoon session even once. Usually, MPs are present during the confidence vote, considering that it is a matter of prestige for all sides. But the Bollywood actor skipped even that important phase recently.

The report further adds that Deol has not taken part in any debate in the parliament since 2019. MPLAD funds allotted to him have not been used for any purpose.

Netizens are demanding that Deol should be snubbed by JP Nadda, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in 2024. In the past, Sachin Tendulkar was a similar failure. He was nominated to Rajya Sabha.

Political parties give tickets to celebrities like Deol, Hema Malini and Urmila Matondkar in the hope that their starry presence can make the campaigning special. Political workers who are loyal for years and do back-breaking organizational work are ignored.
