The late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was able to bring the Congress to power in Andhra Pradesh by capitalizing on the opposition to Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party, which had ruled for two terms. He won re-election in 2009 and kept the Congress in power. While some Congress leaders, such as PJR, were against YSR, he was known for being inclusive and bringing dissident leaders close to him, even giving ministerial positions to those who opposed him.
However, there are criticisms that YS Jaganmohan Reddy, YSR's son and the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, lacks this quality. Recently, he went to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) office and witnessed how the party's state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram behaved. This incident raised doubts about whether Jaganmohan Reddy had truly learned from his father's inclusive leadership style, which even earned the respect of the opposition.
Jagan's sister, Sharmila, who leads the YSR Telangana Party, has been disappointing in her dealings with fellow opposition members. Despite her efforts, she has faced setbacks and frustration in achieving positive results. Furthermore, she is being criticized for her lack of political decorum.
Sharmila recently called on the state presidents of Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress to raise their voices against the ruling BRS government and its mistakes. However, they declined to support her. She also visited the Communist Party of India (Marxist) office to discuss forming an alliance against the KCR government's behavior. There, she met Tammineni Veerabhadram, who was taken aback by her comments. Sharmila criticized the communists for engaging in vengeful politics and declared that they are not with her party. However, this behavior was seen as a breach of decorum, as no party leader should criticize another party's leaders in front of their own members.
In the past, YSR was able to form alliances with the communists, including the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, to gain power. However, if Sharmila continues to behave in this manner, it is unlikely that she will be able to gain support from other parties.
