Telangana has become a breeding ground for new political parties as disillusioned individuals are forming parties without much forethought. If they manage to gain even a modicum of popularity, they establish their own faction. When Andhra Pradesh was still a unified state, several parties came to light under the banner of Telangana Rashtra Samithi with the aim of achieving a separate Telangana.
However, only BRS has remained active while all others ceased to exist. It was believed that no new party would arise after Telangana was formed, but since then, dozens of new parties have emerged. During BRS' second term, Congress won a respectable number of seats. However, the BJP has swiftly gained momentum, winning both the Dubbaka by-election and Huzurabad. As BJP leaders criticized the government on every issue and were jailed, sympathy for them grew.
Later YS Rajasekhar Reddy's daughter Sharmila has started a new party and is currently traveling through Telangana on a padayatra. The latest news is that Teenmar Mallanna has announced the formation of a new party named 'Telangana Nava Nirman Party.' After breaking up with BJP, he resumed criticizing KCR's family. Recently, he was jailed again and released on bail.
Many are discussing the implications of his new party. Numerous people have founded parties based on their popularity, but it is unclear whether people's fondness will translate into political success. During the Telangana movement, 'Kodandaram' became well-known, and he formed his own party, 'Telangana Jana Samithi,' due to his substantial fan following. However, the party failed to win even a single seat. Many claimed that Kodandaram's popularity was purely superficial and would not translate to votes. Will the same fate befall Teenmar Mallanna? Some suggest it might, as the BJP, which is currently in power at the center, is vying for power in Telangana.
