We reported yesterday that YSRTP Chief YS Sharmila got aggressive with the city police on Monday and raised her hand at cops on duty.
Adding to this was her mother YS Vijayalakshmi, who staged a protest at the police station and slapped a woman cop for arresting her daughter.
Today, High Court advocate Sanjeeva Kumar said that cases have been registered under four sections of the IPC against Sharmila including IPC 353, IPC 332, IPC 427 and IPC 509. Two of these sections are non-bailable.
Whoever voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his public functions, shall be punished with imprisonment, he said, adding a fine is also applicable for the same.
The Nampally court remanded her into 14-day custody on Monday.
The advocate further stressed that punishment is applicable to both men and women and just because Sharmila is a woman, the punishment will not change, according to the Indian law.
However, contrary to what the advocate said, the district court on Tuesday granted her conditional bail on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 30,000 and two sureties. She was asked not to leave the city without informing the police.
