Hyderabad priest who killed my daughter should be hanged to death: Mother

The incident of a young woman named Apsara (30) dying at the hands of a Hyderabad-based priest named Ayyagari Venkat Surya Sai Krishna has shocked the Telugu States. According to the police, the accused claimed to have killed Apsara due to her alleged persistent harassment, as she was insisting on marrying him despite being aware of his marital status. The priest made this statement during his confession in the presence of the Shamshabad police, indicating that he took responsibility for the murder.

The victim's mother is demanding capital punishment. "Krishna used to address me as 'Akkayya'. I never suspected him for the two years we knew him. The temple where he conducts poojas is just next to our house in Shamshabad. He would drop by and eat at our home. He and my daughter went out together on June 2. My daughter didn't return home. For two days after that, he bluffed me by lying that my daughter had gone to Bhadrachalam with her friends. I grew suspicious," the mother said.

The police first filed Krishna's complaint but later suspected him of committing foul play. They questioned him and found out that he had killed Apsara and hidden her body in a manhole.

"Krishna is a living danger. If he continues to be alive, he will be a threat to other women. He should be hanged to death," Apsara's mother told a TV channel.

Krishna's father has claimed that his son is not a priest in the first place. Apsara's mother took a strong exception and opined that Krishna's father too should be questioned.
