KCR-Owaisi meets over UCC

KCR-Owaisi meets over UCC. PM Modi's BJP-led Union government is keen to fulfill its poll promise by implementing UCC (Uniform Civil Code) ahead of the upcoming elections in 2024. The BJP government is planning to introduce the bill in the coming monsoon session of Parliament.

While the BJP intensified efforts to introduce the UCC, opposition parties are conducting meetings to chalk out their strategies and what stand they should take if BJP introduces the bill. Already Congress and the Left opposed the bill tooth and nail saying that it will only divide the society on a communal basis. They even questioned the timing of the bill.

In the meantime, Telangana CM KCR met MIM chief Owaisi and both discussed Uniform Civil Code. After the meeting, KCR speaking to scribes informed that his party BRS will oppose the bill. He said BRS will fight against the UCC along with the other like-minded parties and directed BRS parliamentarians K. Keshava Rao and Nama Nageswara Rao to prepare a strategy regarding it and how to proceed forward.

In the meeting with KCR, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) president Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, ministers Mahmood Ali and K.T. Rama Rao, and board executive members of religious bodies took part. KCR said "India is blessed with multiple cultures, traditions, castes, and religions and stood as a role model in advocating unity in diversity to the world," He added "It is clear that the imposition of UCC is a malicious attempt by the Union government. The BJP government has been ignoring the development of the country… plotted to instigate people by promoting divisive politics by raking up clashes between communities to derive political benefits through the UCC Bill."
