KTR gives assurance after Monday's rains make Hyderabadis anxious

There is no doubt that Hyderabad is becoming worse in terms of traffic woes. If corrective measures are not taken urgently, the city will become as bad as Bengaluru in another five years.

On Monday evening, heavy rains lashed large parts of the city. The vehicular congestion in Hi-Tech City, Cable Bridge, and the IKEA areas was shocking. This made activist Srinivas Alavillli tag KTR and urge him to fix the infrastructure woes before things get out of control. "If any city can get out of this mess, that’s Hyderabad with a good road network, ORR, metro, train, and political will. Need thousands of buses at low fares and increased frequency of Metro and MMTS," he added.

Responding to the request, KTR said that the government will be taking up the extension of Metro lines as a priority subject in the next cabinet meeting. He assured that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has already asked the Urban Development Ministry to prepare proposals for the same. "Sustainable mobility and shared mobility are the only solutions to maintain a balance between growth and infrastructure needed," he added.
