Disqualified BRS MLA approaches High Court. Kothagudem MLA Vanama Rao who got a huge shock when the High Court set aside his election on the grounds of submitting fake affidavit during the elections, decided to approach High Cout to seek the 30-Day Suspension of Judgement.
He said "I intend to file an appeal against the order of the High Court before the Supreme Court.I yet to receive the certified copy of the judgment dated 25-7-2023 so as to enable me to approach the Supreme Court."
T. Sharat, counsel for Vanama Rao said " the next general elections are scheduled to be held in December, and his client intends to contest the said elections. If the order copy is not furnished to him, it will be a serious prejudice." The Court reserved its order after hearing the arguments and judgement will be pronounced soon.
In the meantime, Jalagam Venkat Rao who was declared MLA by the High Court met met the secretary to legislature V. Narasimha Charyulu and chief electoral officer Vikas Raj and submitted a copy of Tuesday’s High Court order, which disqualified Vanama Venkateshwar Rao as Kothagudem MLA and declared him (Jalagam) as the legislator.
He added I hope to get appointed as MLA in a day or two as the High Court has given clear instructions in this regard. The two officials said that they would go through the judgement copy and take an early decision. I am hopeful of a positive response from them."
On Vanama Rao's plans to approach the Supreme Court, He said As far as I know, he has exhausted all options in the High Court. He may move the Supreme Court but none can stop my appointment until and unless the apex court issues stay orders."
