Telugu Desam Party was a formidable force in Telangana. They had a loyal voter base in the state and they were indeed a force to reckon with. But things have changed completely now.
No notable party in Telangana is even remotely interested in working with TDP for the next election and the same is emphasised now.
Chandrababu himself announced that TDP will go solo in the next elections and there will be no alliances for them in the coming election. It is strange to hear this from a man who is always so very passionate about alliances. This is a clear indication that TDP has no leeway in the state.
TDP allied with Congress in 2018 and it costed the Congress party big time. Congress, which was supposedly in a good position before the polls came crashing down after the alliance with TDP. They will not be looking to repeat the same mistake now.
So, TDP has no other option but to go alone in the election this year. Needless to say, they already have no representation in the state, so there's nothing to lose for the party on this front.
