KTR, BJP set to fight over pan-Indian movie 'Razakar'

The pan-Indian period social drama 'Razakar', which talks about the atrocities of the Razakars against Hindus during the Nizam era in Hyderabad, has led to a political tussle. A day after its teaser was released in the presence of BJP leader T Raja Singh and hours after Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar endorsed it, TRS leader KT Rama Rao accused the film of aiming to instigate communal violence. He added that the Telangana government is seized of the matter and that it will be taken up with the CBFC. The police department will be instructed to ensure that law and order is maintained in the wake of the polarization that the movie allegedly seeks to engender.

"Some intellectually bankrupt jokers of the BJP are doing their best to instigate communal violence and polarisation for their political propaganda in Telangana. We will take up the matter with the censor board and also the Telangana police to ensure that the law and order situation of Telangana is not affected," KTR tweeted a while ago.

No film can, however, be stalled if it is cleared by the CBFC. If 'Razakar' gets banned in Telangana in the extreme event, the makers will have to approach the High Court.
