All the while, there were reports that YSRTP chief YS Sharmila would be merging her party in Congress. It was even said that she would be given AICC secretary post for the merger.
However, things have changed drastically now and Sharmila has come out of the Congress plan. She has announced that her party will contest from all 119 seats in the state.
Sharmila added that the anti-incumbency votes wont split if YSRTP joins Congress and this would only help KCR, which doesn't want to happen.
Sharmila confirmed that she will contest from Palair constituency in the coming elections and says there is a chance Vijayamma will also contest in the election if needed. She doesn't rule out the chance of her husband Anil contesting as well.
Will Sharmila's plan to contest on her own affect the political equilibrium in Telangana in any way? We have to wait and see.
With under 2 months to go for the polls, Sharmila has started to call for aspirants to contest on her party ticket in the coming elections.
