The Election Commission of India had permitted the Rythu Bandhu scheme a couple of days ago, with a condition that BRS leaders should not comment on the same nor publicize it.
However, in an interesting turn of events, BRS bigwig Harish Rao commented about the same in a public meeting as he said the Rythu Bandhu scheme money will be deposited in the accounts of farmers on the 28th of this month.
This overruled the restriction set by the EC and as a result, they have pointed out the technical point faltered by Harish Rao and ordered the cancellation of the scheme. So, there won't be Rythu Bandhu scheme this term.
In the aftermath of the cancellation of the Rythu Bandhu program, the two leading parties BRS and Congress have started the blame game in Telangana.
BRS argues that the Congress party is behind the cancellation of the scheme as they say that Revanth Reddy complained against the implementation of the scheme to the Election Commission and that is how it was halted. Their version is that BRS was ready to credit the Rs 7,500 crore in the accounts of farmers (Rs 10,000 per acre for eligible farmers) but the Congress saw to it that EC cancelled the same.
On the other hand, the Congress party is arguing that the BRS government is playing tricks with the scheme. They argue that if BRS really had the intention of implementing the scheme, they would've credited the money already instead of waiting till 28 November, 2 days before the election. They say that BRS's intention was to push the blame on Congress all the while as they didn't have any motive of implementing the scheme.
