Telangana Elections: Rs 5-6 Crores/ day on liquor?

Telangana elections are virtually 72 hours from now with the polling scheduled to commence at 8 AM on the 30th of November. Meanwhile, the MLA candidates of the leading political parties in the state have started to roll out lumps of cash on election management.

It is reported by reputed media agencies that the candidates in various parts of Telangana are spending in the range of Rs 1,500 - 5,000 per vote. Apart from that, if the voter of the constituency is willing to come in from other cities to vote, the candidates are readily covering their travel expenses.

Not just that, on average each constituency in Telangana is seeing cashflow of up to Rs 5-6 crores just on liquor distribution. The cost of meat distribution and feeding facilities at the properties belonging to the candidates are additional.

All in all, Telangana is seeing hundreds of crores in cash distribution and other allowances every day with the polling virtually hours from now. This has led to a heated war-like atmosphere in the state.

The election fever has well and truly caught up with the leading party candidates resorting to last-minute advancements to get things done, with regard to the polling trends.
