Cyber Crime Police arrested five persons who circulated the edited video of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah. A case was registered by Delhi police in connection with the same and Delhi police issued summons for Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as well in this regard.
The arrested persons were identified as Pendyala Vamshi Krishna, Manne Sathish, Pettam Naveen, Asma Tasleem and Koya Geetha all hailing from Hyderabad. All the accused work in the Telangana Pradesh Congress Party social media unit.
On 27 April, Hyderabad cyber crime police received a complaint from G. Premender Reddy, BJP State General Secretary alleging that the Telangana Congress Pradesh Congress Party in its Twitter account posted morphed/fabricated video of Amit Shah,Union Home Minister. Further the complaint alleged “The act of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Party President and their social media in morphing/fabricating Amit Shah speech and committed offence under the I.T. Act. The deliberate and mischievous act is aimed at misleading the people and voters creating fear among the OBC communities”.
Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police, who arrested the accused, produced the accused before the Local Court at Nampally, Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway.
