In June this year, Tollywood artist Hema was apprehended by the Bengaluru Police in connection with a drug bust at a farmhouse in Bengaluru. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police interrogated her after she appeared before the agency. Hema was accused of attempting to conceal her identity, providing false information, and consumption of drugs.
There is a new development related to the case. The Bengaluru police have named her in their chargesheet, thereby directly negating her previous denial of drug use at a rave party in the city. While Hema maintained she did not consume any substances, the police have accused her of taking MDMA drugs at the party. She is now facing charges under Section 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
According to Bengaluru Police, Hema is among the 86 individuals who tested positive for drug consumption following the raid on a rave party held at the farmhouse on the intervening night of May 19 and 20. The rave party, attended by over 100 people, triggered an initial FIR on May 19, citing complaints of public disturbance and drug sale and consumption.
