Opportunities in the film industry happen not purely out of talent, one needs to have the right contacts and connections. And if one comes from the same fraternity and family, such lobbying happens a great deal and there is no dearth for work. However, it is heard that music director S S Thaman doesn't follow this practice.
Incidentally, Thaman's wife Sri Vardhini is a very good singer and though during the initial stages of his career, he made her sing a few numbers, after attaining stardom his wife is nowhere to be seen in his singers list. While many started looking at it negatively, Thaman gave the clear picture.
Sharing his thoughts, Thaman reportedly mentioned that his wife is more talented than him and deserves a lot of recognition. However, when producers and audio companies are investing crores on him, it would be unfair on his behalf to try and push his wife. As a music director, he needs to follow the protocol of getting approval from the producers and other stakeholders before engaging a singer. However, Thaman reportedly added that very soon he would be coming up with some independent music videos for his wife. Well, that settles the matter folks!
