Sampoornesh Babu’s Cult Comedy ‘Kobbari Matta’ Locks Theatrical Re-Release for November 14
Burning Star Sampoornesh Babu’s parody comedy “Kobbari Matta” is returning to the big screen. Written and produced by filmmaker Sai Rajesh under the Amrutha Productions banner, the Telugu comedy is slated for a theatrical re-release on November 14.
Presented by Vallamsetla Krishnarao, the film features Ishika Singh, Geethanjali, and Shakeela in prominent roles alongside Sampoornesh Babu’s triple-role performance.
The Antidote to High-Octane Action: A Nostalgic Comedy Ride
Originally hitting theaters on August 10, 2019, Kobbari Matta struck a chord with Telugu comedy enthusiasts through its unabashed spoofing of high-voltage commercial cinema tropes and hyper-dramatic family sagas.
At a time when the theatrical landscape is crowded with heavy violence and intense action thrillers, the return of Kobbari Matta provides an outright lighthearted alternative. The film's primary engine is Sampoornesh Babu’s deadpan, high-commitment delivery across three generations of characters:
-
Paparayudu: The dramatic patriarch carrying vintage dialogue delivery.
-
Pedarayudu: The anchor of over-the-top, classic melodrama.
-
Androidu: The absurdly futuristic, deadpan highlight of the third act.
Supported by sharp one-liners and an ensemble cast that leans into the comedy without restraint, the makers are banking on the movie's established cult following to bring audiences back to theaters this November.
