PIL filed against 'Adipurush' in High Court

A public interest litigation has been filed by Hindu Sena against the latest BO release, 'Adipurush', in the High Court of Delhi. As per the petitioner, the depiction of Hindu gods is objectionable in the Om Raut-directed movie starring Prabhas as Lord Rama.

The scenes are contrary to depictions of religious characters as found in Valmiki's Ramayana, the petition opines. To the film's credit, a disclaimer is put out right at the beginning that the film doesn't intend to hurt any community's sentiments.

"The film shows some religious characters in bad taste. The hairstyle, beard, and dressing are well defined as per the image created in epics. Any variation by film producers, directors and actors would certainly hurt the sentiments of worshipers, devotees and religious believers," Live Law quoted the plea as stating.

In our review, we stated that the film lacks the Rajamouli-ness we tend to associate with spectacle movies. "However, the film's larger-than-life staging and divine storytelling are positives. The overall feel of the movie is a net positive. In the era of violent web series, a film based on the Ramayana was needed," we added.
