'Hanu-Man' will hit the screens on January 12, 2024. In his latest interview, producer Niranjan Reddy made some specific remarks against the alleged prevalence of monopoly in the exhibition and distribution sector in Tollywood.
Speaking to the media, he said that many theatre owners in Hyderabad who want to screen 'Hanu-Man' are not being allowed to have their way. Most of the theatres (as per Reddy, about 70 of the 76) have been allocated to 'Guntur Kaaram' on Day 1 (January 12) by the distributor. Needless to say, this is going to seriously dent the margins of 'Hanu-Man'.
While expressing his confidence in 'Hanu-Man' having a long run at the box office, the producer suggested that his film deserves at least 15-20 theatres in Hyderabad because of what he deems is the high demand from the audience.
Director Prasanth Varma recently said that a mystery man (someone who is influential in the Telugu film industry) tried his best to halt the film's release. "We came to know that someone tried to stall the censor formalities. Thanks to the goodwill I have accumulated over the years, we circumvented all the hurdles," Varma said.
'Hanu-Man' is a pan-Indian and international release. Starring Teja Sajja and Vinay Rai as the hero and villain, respectively, the film features Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Amritha Aiyer and others.
