'Tillu Square' was supposed to hit the screens in August, 2023. It was later moved to November that year and then to February 9, 2024. The news is that the film has been postponed yet again. This is the fourth postponement.
Blame it on the Sankranthi rejig. The producer of Ravi Teja's 'Eagle' wanted to release his film for Sankranthi. However, the festival is already overcrowded with BO releases. There are four other straight Telugu releases happening: 'Guntur Kaaram', 'Saindhav', 'Naa Saami Ranga' and 'Hanu-Man'. The makers of 'Eagle' were requested to move out. What was the incentive offered? Dil Raju, the prominent producer and distributor, mediated the whole deal. He promised the makers of 'Eagle' that a solo theatrical release would be ensured if they agreed to postpone their film to February or March.
The producer of 'Eagle' chose February 9 as the new release date. On that date, Siddhu Jonnalagadda's 'Tillu Square' is scheduled to be released. Since 'Eagle' has been promised an exclusive theatrical release by elders, 'Tillu Square' has to be postponed as per a mutual agreement. The producer of 'Tillu Square' is S Naga Vamsi, whose 'Babai' is producing 'Guntur Kaaram'.
Siddhu's 'DJ Tillu' was released in February 2022. For more than two years, he hasn't had a release.
