BJP faces defeat in North India too; here are the seats they lost in North India

On Saturday, the results of the elections held on May 10 for the Chero Assembly Seat in Meghalaya (Sohiang), the Chande Lok Sabha Seat in Uttar Pradesh, the Jharsuguda Lok Sabha Seat in Odisha, and the Jalandhar Lok Sabha Seat in Punjab were also made public. The Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, which is thought to be a Congress bastion, was won by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In the most recent by-election, Sushil Kumar Rinku, a candidate for the AAP, easily defeated the Congress candidate to win the seat of Jalandhar, which had been held by that party for the previous 24 years. With a majority of 58,000 votes, he defeated Congress candidate Karam Jeet Kaur, who was his closest challenger. In contrast to the Congress candidate, Rinku received 3,02,097 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal candidate received 1,58,354 votes, placing them in third place, while BJP candidate received only 1,34,706 votes, placing them in fourth place.
In the by-election for the Jharsuguda assembly seat in Odisha, the BJP was soundly defeated. Candidate Deepali Das of the BJD triumphed handily. More over 48,000 more votes separated Deepali from the next-closest contender, BJP's Tankadar Tripathi. Tarun Pandey, a candidate for Congress, received only 4,496 votes, which kept him in third place.
For the Sohiang Assembly seat in Meghalaya, Sinar Kupar Rai Lyngdo Thaba of the United Democratic Party (UDP) defeated the NPP candidate by a margin of more than 3,400 votes. Ling Thaba received 16,679 votes in total. Due to the passing of UDP candidate HIR Lingto before the assembly elections set for February 27, voting was delayed to May 10.
The Samajwadi Party has lost the Chanbe Assembly seat in the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh to the BJP's ally Apna Dal (Sonelal). Samajwadi Party member Kirti Kohl and wife of Apna Dal (Sonelal) MLA Rahul Prakash Kohl are engaged in a two-way fight in Chanbe.
