BJP woos OBC votes by projecting Congress as anti-OBC

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hails from the OBC group, wants the BJP to become stronger among the OBCs. In States like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the saffron party has been trying to remove the Congress party from the political consciousness of the OBCs.

On Sunday, addressing a Modi Samaj meet in Gujarat's Ahmedabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah indirectly reaffirmed his party's political vision. He said that the Congress party has always neglected the OBC community despite ruling the country for 56 years. He added that Modi is the first PM who worked for their socio-political upliftment since 2014.

The BJP leader suggested that the PM understands the aspirations of the OBCs because he comes from a poor economic background.

In the 2024 General Elections, BJP wants to further consolidate its votes among OBCs in States like Odisha, West Bengala and Telangana.
