Political slugfest over the shocking Odisha train accident is becoming worse and worse. In the latest instance, a BJP leader from West Bengal has accused Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee of planning the recent accident, which consumed the lives of more than 250 people, besides injuring more than 900.
The worst train accident in years has been politicized by the TMC chief. Following her attacks, the BJP seems to be upping the ante.
West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, who is one of the most prominent BJP leaders in Bengal, described the train accident as a conspiracy of the ruling TMC, alleging that the phones of two railway officials were tapped.
"How did these people (from TMC) know the conversation between two railway officials? He asked, alleging that Banerjee is scared of the recommended CBI probe because the accident is her sabotage. He added that if the CBI doesn't bring out the truth, he will approach the court himself.
In another case, the BJP has faced a similar accusation. The collapse of the Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge in Bhagalpur, Bihar, which was a project worth Rs 1,753 crore, has left it in a state of uncertainty. Tej Pratap Yadav, a minister in Bihar, has claimed that the bridge was deliberately destroyed by the BJP.
