KCR’s announcement provides major relief to TS' farmers

In a major relief to farmers, Telangana state chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that they can procure 100% of their Yasangi yield by paying a minimum support price (MSP). This announcement will provide relief to over 1 lakh jowar farmers, many of whom were affected by unseasonal rains. Farmers from districts like Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Narayanpet, and Gadwal are most likely to benefit from this.

As directed by the Chief Minister, M. Raghunandan Rao, the secretary for agriculture, issued a government order designating the TS Markfed to carry out the duty.

As a result, the state pool will supply the Markfed with 65,499 metric tonnes of jowar (hybrid) grown during the Rabi 2022–23 season under MSP.

The State Markfed is also permitted by the government to get a loan facility from nationalised banks, financial institutions, or the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) in the amount of Rs. 219.92 crore. For the credit facility that Markfed would be able to get, the state government would stand as a guarantee.
