Jalagam Venkatrao, who stood second in the election approached the High Court against the election of Vanama Venkateshwar Rao and alleged that he submitted false information in his election affidavit in 2018. High Court which has taken up the case for the investigation today gave its final verdict.
The High Court not only declared the election invalid but also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on Vanama Venkateshwar Rao for submitting a false affidavit.Vanama Venkateshwar Rao after winning the election on a Congress ticket joined the BRS party. A single-judge bench of the High Court pronounced the order on an election petition filed by Venkat Rao, challenging the election of Venkateshwar Rao. Justice Radha Rani took a serious view of the case and imposed a penalty on Vanama Venkateswhar Rao.
Incidentally, Venkat Rao contested the elections in 2018 on BRS ticket but he lost the elections against Vanama Venkateshwar Rao. by 4,139 votes.In his petition, Venkat Rao raised various issues, including the failure to file a proper mandatory affidavit under section 125A of the Representation of People’s Act. He alleged that Venkateshwar Rao submitted false information with respect to immovable assets, assets of family members and failed to disclose pending criminal cases.
