KCR lying on Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme (KLIS). Opposition parties Congress and BJP sought to expose Telangana CM KCR on the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme. Former TPCC chief, Ponnala Lakshmaiah said KCR is lying on the Kaleswhawram project by claiming that cost of construction had been recovered is misleading.
He questioned "I had said on day one that Kaleshwaram is a useless project and if KCR is confident he should come for a discussion on it. The government should come out with details of the project cost. How much of it was borrowed? What is the interest being paid? What is the allocation made for it from the budget,"
He added "KCR does not leave his farmhouse and Pragathi Bhavan. KCR will be sent to jail," and pointed out that Congress government had taken up 33 projects as part of Jalayagnam but KCR had taken up four, just swindle money. He said the state’s debt had risen from 70,000 crore in 2014 to 5 lakh crore.
BJP leader Eatela Rajender also said "KCR claimed that the money invested in the project has been earned back. As per government data itself, so far, 155TMC ft of water was lifted through the project and this water used for irrigation should have resulted in crops worth Rs 600 crore. One TMC ft of water can irrigate a maximum of 10,000 acres. There is no truth in his claim that the investment on the project has been earned back,"
He added "This project is a burden for Telangana and generations after us will still be paying for KCR’s profligacy,"
