On Saturday, the singer himself scoffed at the news. He said that he is not going to join any political party, much less contest from the Goshamahal Assembly constituency.
"This is all fake news which has been circulated for the past few days. I respect all leaders from all parties. Because I am an artist and I have to entertain everyone and I will do so for my whole life," Rahul wrote, adding that he is not aware of how certain YouTube channels started the rumour about his political entry.
"I am only into my music career. I have so much to do in the film industry," he added. Rahul urged one and all to stop rumour-mongering.
