Earlier today, the Telangana High Court cancelled the Telangana State Public Service Commission Group 1 Preliminary Examination-2023 held recently. Fresh exams have to be conducted as per the court's directions.
The court verdict is the result of a petition filed by a student union. The petition said that no biometric was arranged in the exam. And OMR sheets were given without hall ticket numbers on them.
The BJP is training its guns on the government. "Is it really that hard to recruit Group-I officers? Sending a Rover to the Moon - Chandrayaan - was much easier than conducting Group-I exam in Telangana," asked BJP spokesperson Kishore Poreddy. The BJP functionary blamed the chaos on the "utter cluelessness of the Chief Minister and the supposedly tech-savvy IT minister Rama Rao about basic computer security and biometrics." He also wondered if the fiasco was the result of the TRS government "emptying the coffers". "Is that why the government is using its genius to block the recruitment so as to avoid paying salaries?" he asked.
This is the second time that the Group I preliminary exam has been cancelled. The first one was done because of a question paper leak.
