It is known that, for the past few days, a new variant of COVID-19 called JN.1 has been causing a rise in Coronavirus cases in Kerala. Very soon, thousands of devotees of Lord Ayyappa will be travelling to Kerala from the Telugu States. In this regard, the Telangana Health Minister today issued an advisory to them.
The Minister, Damodar Rajanarsimha, urged the devotees to take proper precautions. Wearing masks and maintaining respiratory hygiene are crucial.
The officials have been asked to put in place all necessary precautions. In case of any emergency, helplines will be floated and information disseminated to travellers from Telangana. The Revanth Reddy government doesn't want citizens to get panicky. That said, they have to be vigilant.
"The state administration is fully prepared should Covid-19 cases go up. Kits for diagnostic tests have been readied. Besides, medicines and oxygen have been readied for treatment in hospitals to avoid shortages," a statement said.
The Kerala government, other State governments and the Centre are likely going to be in touch with one another in January ahead of the Sabarimala pilgrimage season. That way, the spread of the new variant can be avoided.
