The New Year celebrations are done and dusted. If there is one lot that is mighty happy with the New Year celebrations, it would be the liquor outlets in Telangana as the state saw a huge upsurge in liquor sales over the New Year weekend.
For the dates 28, 29, 30, and 31 December, Telangana registered a monstrous Rs 770 crore worth of liquor.
The liquor sales include collections from wine shops and bars. On 30 and 31 alone, Telangana sold Rs 463 crore worth of liquor. The state saw a massive spike in liquor sales on New Year's eve and liquor outlet owners are laughing their way to the bank now.
Telangana usually sells Rs 2500 crores worth of liquor in a month. But just in the mentioned 4 days, the state saw nearly 1/3rd of the overall monthly liquor sales.
This could be considered as a small New Year gift to the newly formed Revanth Reddy government as these sales could offer a breather to state finances.
