For allegedly making derogatory remarks on the Congress party and its leaders, the BRS supremo has been banned from participating in the election campaigning for the 48 hours, starting from May 1, 2024 8pm.
The ECI said in its official letter it reprimands K Chandrashekar Rao, president of BRS party for his misconduct. “Accordingly, the commission, under Article 324 of the constitution of India and all other powers enabling in this behalf, bars K Chandrashekar Rao , president , BRS from holding any public meetings, public processions, public rallies, shows and interviews, public utterances in media (electronic, print, social media) etc. In connection with ongoing elections for 48 hours from 8:00 pm on May 1st, 2024.”
Earlier on 5th April, 2024, KCR allegedly made derogatory and objectionable statements against the Congress party. Following which, on April 6th, the TPCC vice president, Niranjan Reddy complained to the Election Commission of India.
