Finally, it has happened. There were few instances in the last few years when Sonia Gandhi was stepping down from the Congress party and its position but was compelled to stay by her coterie. But now, it looks like she has had enough and is now throwing the towel. With that, the big question among many is, what is going to be Congress's future.
As such, Rahul Gandhi has not been able to take up the mantle as strongly as his mother and he is yet to create that mark. At one point, many felt Priyanka Gandhi has that mettle in her but for some reason she has not been coming to the forefront. On the other hand, many leaders have passed their prime and are now in their seventies and eighties which is of no use to the party.
Some are saying the position of Congress after the exit of Sonia is like that of the AIADMK party in Tamil Nadu after the demise of Jayalalithaa. However, the Congress loyalists are saying the party's foundation is still strong and with young leaders like Revanth Reddy and others coming in, they will be bouncing back and forming the government in India soon.
