The land of opportunities or dollar dreams as you may call it, the United States of America may have lost its sheen but never to the Telugus. Yes, as strange as it may sound, the fascination and frenzy to go to the US is still as hot as a steaming oven for the Telugu Janta. Anyhow, here’s a perspective from the other side of the coin.
In recent times, many are losing their jobs in the US , especially those who are in H-1. Now, when that happens, they need to get a job within 2 months or else they need to return to India. During earlier times, it was easy to get into another job but due to recession things have become tough. The only option is, if the spouse is having a job and if he/she has H-1 then okay. But if the couple doesn’t have a job and they have kids then it is not easy returning to India due to culture shock and various other issues.
So, if they are in a position to sustain for at least a year or so with their savings, they have only one option, getting an admission in one of the universities. If that happens, they can secure an F-1 visa and they can stay till they complete their education. Simultaneously, they can attempt for H-1 and once they get it they can stop their studies.
All this is turning out to be a blessing for the American universities who need money and there are plenty. Incidentally, many Indians do their best to hang around in the US without returning. Also, there are many who have been in India since 15 years but without a green card. Reason being, the moment they change jobs, their GC application becomes a fresh one and things come to square number one.
Now, their kids have reached the high school age so coming back to India is not easy. Also, many have lost their connection with India for various reasons. So, if they have sufficient money wherein they can just survive for a year or so, they are targeting the Universities. From their end, the universities are taking advantage of this situation and giving a hand of assurance thereby minting some real good money. So, to those who are still crazy about going to the US, do your due diligence and proceed.
