Narendra Modi's Bengaluru road shows have become a national talking point, with opposing camps trying their best to keep it in the news cycle. As per BJP, about one million people directly witnessed the PM's road show on Saturday in the capital city of Karnataka. However, as per the Congres party and other anti-BJP voices, the road show was a flop. So much so, critics allege, the BJP "propaganda machine" has had to morph videos to claim that heavy crowds witnessed the weekend's road show on the streets of Bengaluru.
As per senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, the Bengaluru road show not only inconvenienced the people but it drew a lukewarm response. "Writing on the wall is very, very clear. Come May 10th, 40% Bhrashtasura Dahana is Guaranteed," he wrote on Twitter.
On the other hand, BJP functionaries are countering that the crowd enthusiasm was so huge that it is rattling the Congress party ahead of the Assembly elections.
In the past, Modi's road shows were aggressive in Ahmedabad and Lucknow. In both instances, the BJP came back to power with a cool majority. BJP supporters are hoping that Modi is sensing a groundswell of pro-BJP wave in Bengaluru and that's why he is going all out with road shows.
If Modi succeeds yet again in the difficult State of Karnataka, road shows as a campaign mode are here to stay!
