Chief Minister of a State announces a ban on 'The Kerala Story'

'The Kerala Story' was recently pulled out of theatres and multiplexes in Tamil Nadu. Although the government didn't ban the Bollywood movie, effectively, the result is that nobody would be able to watch the movie in theatres.

On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that she had decided to ban the controversial Hindi-language film that exposes the radicalization agenda of extremist Islamist groups. She said that 'The Kashmir Files', released last year, was meant to humiliate one section of people. She added that 'The Kerala Story' is a distorted version of the truth.

The TMC government banned the movie to "avoid any incident of hatred and violence, and to maintain peace in the State".

Union I&B Minister Anurag Thakur reacted to the ban by saying that the TMC government is only doing appeasement and vote bank politics.
