Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday suggested that his party, BJD, is least interested in allying with a non-UPA, non-NDA front ahead of the 2024 elections. The ruling party of Odisha will be neutral, maintaining a safe distance from Congress, BJP and a Third Front that might probably be led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Patnaik's words came after his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in the day. In one stroke, he has delivered bad news to regional parties like JD(U) that want to dislodge the NDA after the 2024 polls should UPA fail to secure a majority.
At a time when BJP is expected to be defeated in the Karnataka Assembly elections, the party received two pieces of good news today. Patnaik's statement is one of the positive reasons, while Supreme Court maintaining the status quo with respect to the Maharashtra Assembly is the other piece of good news.
