At a time when the BJP is headed for a defeat in the Karnataka Assembly elections, BJP national spokesperson Amit Malviya appeared on a national TV channel and claimed that the State will remain the saffron party's bastion.
Surprisingly, Malviya even said that the final result can go either way. He said that, in 2018, BJP was comfortably placed to form the government on the result day till 4 pm with 120 seats. Within an hour, the majority came down and BJP settled with 104 seats. Congress and JD(S) came together and formed the government.
BJP is hoping that Congress' lead will come down by evening.
Malviya added that BJP's voter base remains intact. JD(S) has seen an erosion in its vote share. Muslims and SCs who voted for the regional party shifted to Congress this time.
