#BJPMuktSouthIndia, meaning BJP is powerless in all South Indian States, is trending on Twitter on Saturday. The Congress party has single-handedly dislodged the sole BJP government that ruled Karnataka.
Congress supporters are seeing it as an encouraging sign. "BJP will remain out of power in Karnataka for the next 10 years. The JD(S) vote bank has shifted to Congress in a substantial way. BJP will find it extremely hard to make further inroads. It has to make do with its upper caste vote base and Lingayat base. Wooing SCs and STs in the face of a resurgent Congress will be a Herculean task," a political commentator opined.
It is also said that BJP will receive a jolt in the Telangana Assembly elections later this year. "Karnataka is a pro-saffron State during Lok Sabha polls. Modi is extremely popular among voters there. Yet, Modi couldn't salvage his party. He and Bandi Sanjay Kumar are in for a rude shock in Telangana. KCR will do better than Congress in trouncing BJP," TRS supporters are heard saying on social media.
In Kerala, BJP is least likely to come to power in 2 decades. Annamalai in Tamil Nadu is BJP's only hope for now.
